"Together, as the Church of the Brethren, we will passionately live and share the radical transformation and holistic peace of Jesus Christ through relationship-based neighborhood engagement. To move us forward, we will develop a culture of calling and equipping disciples who are innovative, adaptable, and fearless."  (Church of the Brethren compelling vision statement / brethren.org)

The Church of the Brethren is based in the Anabaptist and Pietist faith traditions. What began as a faith movement to resist strong government control of the church and low tolerance for diversity, five men and three women gathered at the Eder River in Schwarzenau, Germany in 1708 for baptism, which at that time was considered an illegal act against the state church. These brave folks understood this baptism as an outward symbol of their new faith and as a commitment to living that faith in community. For this decision, they suffered persecution. The Brethren emigrated to North America in 1719. The first congregation was located in Germantown, Pennsylvania.  (From the Brethren Historical library and Archives)

Our rich Brethren history of steadfast faith in God, living out the teachings and example of Jesus Christ, and motivated by the Holy Spirit still continues today. Here at Beavercreek Church of the Brethren, we see the value in everyone. We strive to be a catalyst for positive change. We are driven by the Christian callings of service, support, empowerment, and discipleship.
